Bubble Mailer vs Honeycomb Padded Envelope, Who is the expert in shockproof?

Today, with the increasing development of online shopping and logistics, we always hope that our beloved babies will be intact when delivered to our hands. So, as a "personal bodyguard" to protect goods, who is more trustworthy, bubble bags or honeycomb paper bags? In order to find the answer, we specially conducted two small competitions - drop shock resistance PK and load-bearing capacity PK to see their respective "real skills"!

 

1. First impression:

Bubble bags are made of plastic and contain many small inflated bubbles inside, making them lightweight and soft. The honeycomb paper bag is made of kraft paper and has a unique honeycomb structure design inside, giving it a certain strength and elasticity. Both have their own characteristics, but who is better at protecting goods?

 

2. Drop and earthquake resistance PK:

First, we conducted a "drop and earthquake resistance competition" to simulate a drop scenario during express logistics handling. The bubble bag and honeycomb paper bag containing glass cups were freely dropped from the same height and repeated many times. What was the result?

Bubble bag: After the first drop, the bubble bag and glass remain intact. After being dropped several times, 

although the surface of the bubble bag was slightly deformed, the overall structure was intact and the internal glass 

was still intact. Bubble bags have excellent cushioning properties in case of drops and shocks.  


● Honeycomb paper bag: After the first fall, the surface of the honeycomb paper bag was slightly 

deformed, but the internal glass was not damaged. After being dropped several times, the surface 

of the honeycomb paper was damaged, and the internal glass was also slightly defective.Although 

honeycomb paper bags can provide certain protection, their drop protection capabilities are slightly 

inferior to bubble bags.


 

3. Load-bearing capacity PK

Secondly, we conducted a "load-bearing capacity competition", placing heavy objects (about 6 kilograms) on bubble bags and honeycomb paper bags respectively for 10 minutes and then taking them away to observe their compression range and rebound degree. What is the result?

● Bubble bag: initial height 2.7 cm, height after compression 1 cm, height after rebound 2.5cm. Under pressure, the thickness of the bubble bag is significantly reduced, showing strong compressibility and buffering force, effectively dispersing pressure. After the book is removed, the bubble bag returns to its original shape, showing excellent elasticity.

● Honeycomb paper bag: starting height is 2.8cm, height after compression is 2.3cm, and height after rebound is 2.7cm. In the face of pressure, the thickness of honeycomb paper bags changes little, showing good compression resistance. Its stable structure allows it to return to its original shape after being subjected to stress.

 

4. PK conclusion

Through the above PK, we draw the following conclusions:

Bubble bags: Suitable for occasions that require high buffering capacity, especially when falls may 

occur during transportation. Bubble bags can better protect fragile items.


Honeycomb paper bag: suitable for occasions requiring higher pressure resistance, such as items that 

need to withstand greater pressure during smooth transportation. However, in the event of a drop, 

its protective capabilities are slightly inferior to those of bubble bags.


Generally speaking, bubble bags are suitable for fragile items that may be impacted during short-term transportation, while honeycomb paper bags are more suitable for packaging that carries heavy loads or requires high compression resistance.

 

5. Comprehensive consideration

In addition to PK results, we also need to consider factors such as cost, environmental protection, and application scenarios.

Cost: Bubble bags are low-cost and suitable for large-volume use; honeycomb paper bags are relatively high-end and suitable for products with high packaging requirements.

Waterproof: Bubble bags usually have good waterproof performance due to the characteristics of their own materials and internal bubble structures; honeycomb paper bags themselves are not waterproof, but they can be improved through special processes.

Environmental protection: There are already degradable bubble bags on the market, such as XCGS fully degradable kraft paper bubble bags; all honeycomb paper bags are made of pure kraft paper, which is environmentally friendly and fully degradable, in line with the current environmental protection trend.

Application scenarios: Bubble bags are lightweight, easy to carry, waterproof and wear-resistant, and are suitable for packaging small items; honeycomb paper bags, due to their strong carrying capacity, are suitable for heavy objects or situations that require high pressure and strong support.


To sum up, bubble bags and honeycomb paper bags have their own advantages, and there is no absolute winner. Which packaging material to choose should be comprehensively decided based on actual needs, cost considerations and environmental protection requirements. If you are looking for cost-effectiveness and waterproofness, bubble bags will be a good choice; and if you pay more attention to environmental protection or need to package heavy goods, honeycomb paper bags are the best choice.
